His World, Forever!

“I’m running late already. If I don’t reach her by tomorrow morning at her place in Nainital, she’ll kill me.” Kiyaan whimpered to Suyash in his cubicle as he packed up his stuff to leave. He had a bus to catch at 9:10 PM and it was already 8:15PM.

Kiyaan ran down the stairs and fled out of his office as he paced his way to the nearby metro station. He boarded the train to Kashmere Gate and off boarded in a hurry too, with lush red bouquet of roses intact in his arms.

It was 6th February that night, the next day marked the arrival of the week of love, though no specific day can be considered to be the celebration of love because what’s life without this bond of ecstasy.

Like always, Kiyaan was on his toes make her week special. 😌
For him, she wasn’t just his love, but the world he resided in, Kainaat.

As he began with his journey in the darkness of that night, he tried to picture her glistening smile right back in his mind. The way her hair used to be a mess when she woke up from her midday naps in her bus journeys, the way she used to spread her fragrance of kindness and compassion all around, and the way every bit of her made me fall in love with every tiny thing, everything raced back in his thoughts.

The journey to the mystic city of lakes and hills, came to an end with a sudden stutter in the bus which broke his chain of memories lived so far. Her warmth was spread all across her city, their destination city. It was almost 9:00AM in the morning.

He enthusiastically climbed down the bus, with his exquisite bouquet kept close to his heart. He had an Kiyaan was about to see her after a long, long time, the last time he visited her was his birthday, almost two months back, in the chilling winters of Nainital. Long distances are hard, he thought.

He booked himself his cab, and took his last travel to see her. It was just a matter of an hour now. Till the time they reunite. He remembered how she loved roses and the smell they offer to fall in love with, for them, roses held a funny story, as that’s when they first met in college. Amidst the loads of proposals her beauty received, he offered another rose, painted on his handkerchief, sprayed with the scent of his love, and thats how a forever began.

Kiyaan got off from the cab, right in front of their usual meeting spot. It had been two years since they were meeting each other at the same place. He walked in with composed steps, to the same spot where she used to wait.

As he walked closer to her, the brim of his eyes were holding back tears of joy and sorrow. Joy of seeing her again, sorrow of seeing her after so long.

As Kiyaan walked to Kainaat, he placed the bouquet of roses right beside her grave, and said, “Happy Rose Day, Kainaat; it’s been seven years of us, and two since you left.” He embraced her name on her gravestone, crying the tears of joy.
